Abstract

ARAGON-BARRETO, Miguel Ángel. Identification of elements associated with exclusion in autobiographical stories of teachers in initial training in Bogotá D.C., Colombia. Prospectiva [online]. 2023, n.35, e21212370.  Epub Dec 23, 2022. ISSN 0122-1213.  https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i35.12370.

The project "Pedagogy of compassion and tenderness for inclusion in the classroom", developed between 2019 and 2020, at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, in Bogotá D.C., Colombia, was carried out to promote compassion and tenderness as relevant skills in initial teacher training. To achieve this, it was proposed to recognize initially the phenomenon of social exclusion, as a transversal element in the lives of students.

The proposal was developed within the framework of qualitative research, through the ethnographic method, using the analysis of student narratives and participant observation. With the research, it was possible to examine exclusion processes crossed by a network of causes, actors, contexts, emotions, and particular consequences, allowing 19 participants to identify themselves as excluded and excluding subjects at the same time. The contexts of the family and the school were highlighted, as the main spaces where exclusion takes place and where cruel and violent acts of exclusion occurred that directly impacted the personality of the teachers in training; in addition, a type of “self-exclusion” was evidenced that might be necessary, in response to other acts of exclusion.

Keywords : Exclusion; Violence; Cruelty; Emotions; Education.
