Abstract

MORA CAICEDO, Ángela Rocío. An approach to the status of citizens in Pasto during the troubled period of independence in the New Granada (1809 - 1824). Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2011, vol.16, n.1, pp.51-76. ISSN 0122-2066.

The realist tradition of Pasto in the period of Independence, states the need to inquire about the process of incorporation of the republican order in a historical defense of the traditional order and how in this process were spreading and appropriating concepts like citizenship, people sovereignty, equality or homeland. Their management allowed the consolidation of public debate on issues, collective obligations and responsibilities in public spaces also. Following this orientation, this paper aims at first, to present an approach to the status of citizen in Pasto in a realistic context, and then give an account of citizenship required in the early years of the republic. This social-historical inquiry is confined to the head of the Cabildo of Pasto in the period covering the years 1809 to 1824.
