Abstract

The intention of this work is to show the worry of the elites and the State in Manizales for the institutionalization of the bureaucracy (specially of the Inspectors of Sanitary Hygiene) sanitary, as a measure to offset the problems of the public hygiene that were increased due to the demographic growth provoked by the economic summit. This way, we demonstrate that the worry for the hygiene was narrowly related to the idea of that this one was necessary to reach the progress. For what it became necessary that the State was regulating and it will give procedure the collective and individual behaviors of the inhabitants of Manizales in the notable period.
