Abstract

CABRERA BECERRA, Gabriel. One Hundred and Eighty Years of Botanical Work in the Alto Rio Negro - Vaupes Region on the Border of Colombia and Brazil (1785 - 1965). Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.17-51.  Epub Dec 23, 2021. ISSN 0122-2066.  https://doi.org/10.18273/revanu.v27n1-2022001.

This article studies the botanic works between 1785 and 1965 in the Alto Río Negro - Vaupés region, a border area in the Amazon between Colombia and Brazil. After the figures of the Nineteenth-century, literature tends to praise the North American Richard Evans Schultes, however, his works had significant participation of other Colombian researchers and there are also contributions from Brazil that are not usually mentioned. The materials reviewed make it possible to make visible these other scientists who made valuable contributions to the knowledge of the Amazonian flora.
