Abstract

HERNANDEZ DELGADO, Esperanza. Peace Negotiations in Colombia: a Look under a Peace-building Perspective. Pap.polit. [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.1, pp.35-56. ISSN 0122-4409.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.papo21-1.npcm.

This article is the result of a research exercise for peace, focused on characterizing and learning the current peace process between the government of President Santos and the rebel movement FARC-EP. It stresses that this process represents an important window of opportunity for completion and transformation of protracted internal armed conflict in this country. It also offers a look at the relationship between peacebuilding and peace negotiations, noting that Colombia posseses significant knowledge in this kind of peace negotiations, and analyzes the pacifist empowerment of the referred peace negotiations. The article concludes by pointing out the importance of this empowerment in the remainder of the peace negotiations so that they can achieve the goal set, and also regarding the final peace agreement, allowing them to become, in the post-agreement, an opportunity for constructive changes allowing the transformation of the conflict, preventing its relapse and finding alternatives for a stable and lasting peace.

Keywords : internal armed conflict; peace-building; pacifist empowerment; peace negotiations; imperfect peace; post-agreement.
