Abstract

GARZON, Michelle Hernández. Territorial analysis of urban environmental problems: the case of the municipality of Facatativa, Cundinamarca, Colombia (1980-2010). Perspectiva Geográfica [online]. 2019, vol.24, n.1, pp.92-115. ISSN 0123-3769.  https://doi.org/10.19053/01233769.9074.

The current environmental situation in the urban area of Facatativá responds to the historical events that have taken place regarding territorialization processes, evidenced by urbanization and industrialization. In order to understand the environmental problems in the urban area of this municipality from its territorial analysis, the urban territorial configuration between 1980-2010 is determined from a geohistorical, geopolitical and environmental approach. It is observed that the complex environmental problems of Facatativá impact the recognition of the value of natural resources and the environment, the quality of life and environmental sustainability. Thus, territorial environmental management becomes a strategy to provide guidelines for territorial planning, promoting equality, equity and sustainable development.
