This paper results from a qualitative research, whose general objective has been to evaluate conflict of law rules in the Colombian legal system, observing them in the light of codifications existing in other countries. In this sense, the paper offers an overview of Latin America's international private law on property. Then, it analyzes the situation in Colombia. Finally, the paper proposes some ideas in order to contribute to a future revision of the way in which the lex sitws-rule is included in Colombian international private law.
