Abstract

NITRIHUAL VALDEBENITO, Luis; FIERRO BUSTOS, Juan Manuel; MAYORGA ROJEL, Javier  and  PACHECO PAILAHUAL, Stefanie. Orlando Millas: Popular Democracy and Criticism of the Leftist Revolution During the Popular Unity in Chile. Folios [online]. 2021, n.53, pp.31-43.  Epub Nov 15, 2021. In this research paper we investigate the political thought of Orlando Millas. Millas raises a review of the period of Unidad Popular in Chile (1970-1973) proposing that the government of Salvador Allende broadened the foundations of democracy, fixed a non-violent route of exercise of power and developed a unique socialist program in the world. Thus, the memoirs constitute a political text through which the memorialist reconstructs the past world, updating and plotting new horizons to understand the events.
