Abstract

This article emphasizes on the need to study oral health from a social and cultural perspective, bearing in mind that its importance, the benefits of treatments, the origin of oral problems and even the oral health services are subject to different interpretations. The perceptions of people, mediated by culture, could make individuals act in particular way which not always agrees with that of health professionals.
