The objective of this article is to analyze the relationship between sovereignty and the right to a healthy environment with the war that Colombia is waging against drug trafficking; war that involves the intervention of the United States and one of its most representative companies, Monsanto, producer of glyphosate (now Bayer). The case under study starts from the validity, with the Constitution of 1991, of a new national order marked by the sovereign power of the people and their right to decent living conditions, within which the guarantee of health and a natural habitat free from contamination. For this purpose, the results of recent studies demonstrating the damage suffered, both humans and the ecosystem, and its various manifestations are presented. Based on the qualitative method, serious alteration conditions were identified in aerial spraying areas; to conclude that the preservation of the environment involves not only acts of government, but also the will of the affected communities.
