Abstract

LONDONO HENAO, Charle A.. The aerial cable Line K of Medellin, Colombia, 2005-2017. Rev.econ.inst. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.47, pp.145-160.  Epub Jan 20, 2023. ISSN 0124-5996.  https://doi.org/10.18601/01245996.v24n47.06.

This article evaluates the effects of the construction of the Line K aerial cable in the city of Medellín, Colombia, considering two periods: 2005-2012 and 2005-2017. Based on a difference-in-differences model, its effects on variables such as the value of the square meter of land, housing density, average years of study, travel time and mode of transportation are determined. One of the main findings is that the construction of the aerial cable has had positive effects on social mobility, since it makes it possible for the population to migrate from this territory by achieving higher schooling and a higher level of income.
