The importance of the idea of categorial closure of Gustavo Bueno for current Spanish philosophy is claimed. The ideas of operative and categorial closure are presented and their similarities and differences are discussed. A classification of the different types of operative closure is proposed. Finally, the importance of these ideas is claimed to establish the demarcation of the sciences against other knowledge and for the classification of the sciences.
