The competitiveness and strategic planning are topics of main importance to be studied in the public and corporate groups, having into account the generation of diagnostic, assessment and proposal for strategic strengthening from methodological tools which allow the pertinent analysis, promoting changes to contribute the strengthening of key variables for the development of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) of the dairy sector in the city of San Juan de Pasto. Is in this context that the present work has been developed, focusing in the gathering and interpretation of the existent information about the current status of diary chain of Nariño, from the assessment of environments, the sectorial analysis using the Diamond and Five Forces models from Michael Porter and with the completion of strategic benchmarking in a regional and corporate levels, considering this as vital elements for the present analysis, a value chain could be stablished, generating strategic guidelines to contribute the improvement of the current planning and control processes in the dairy SMEs of the region.
