Abstract

Overall, the low level of integration of the socio-humanistic component in technique-scientific training scenarios is a constant educational concern. In this context, the article claiming discusses the role assigned to this type of training in a particular environment: the programs and schools of higher agricultural education. The document emphasizes three main topics: a) the perceptions of teachers and students regarding the role given to the socio-humanistic component in its daily educational context, b) the purpose that should guide training in social and thematic areas; c) the challenges that it supposes to advance toward the scientific-social balance. That said is sustained in a study conducted among teachers and students of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Caldas, Colombia .
