Abstract

PERDOMO-RUBIO, Alejandro  and  MARTINEZ-SILVA, Pablo. Agents and Social Fields in the Security of Patients in Three Hospitals of bogota, colombia. Rev. Gerenc. Polit. Salud [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.19, pp.150-178. ISSN 1657-7027.

One of the most important milestones of quality management in the health services in Colombia is patient safety culture. With the relevance of it in mind, a research took place in three major hospitals in Bogota; the purpose was to typify social practices related to patient safety culture. This approach was made based on Pierre Bourdieu´s theory, which allowed seeing both the social fields behind the social services and the habitus of its agents. It is concluded that, in order to make important changes on patient safety culture, modifications in the social structures of the hospital, in the distribution of power and transformations in the habitus of the agents are needed.
