Abstract

BORRERO-RAMIREZ, Yadira Eugenia  and  ECHEVERRY-LOPEZ, María Esperanza. Struggles for health in Colombia.: A theoretical proposal for its analysis. Rev. Gerenc. Polit. Salud [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.21, pp.62-82. ISSN 1657-7027.

This is a theoretical research that proposes the convergence of three strands for the study of struggles for health in Colombia starting from the analysis of sociopolitical structure and the actors. This goal involves a question on the existence, if any, of collective action for health, framed by the Reform and in a sociopolitical violence context. The method used was documentary analysis of two kinds of sources: 1) examination of academic works on collective action and social movements, and 2) papers on social struggles in Colombia. The results show that struggles for health are immerse in other struggles, even if the reform promotes the creation of new actors and protest forms and the path to the claim of the right. As a consequence, complementary theoretical approaches that show the structure while showing the actors are needed.

Keywords : Right to Health; Health Reform; Struggles for Health; Collective Action; Right to Health; Health care reform; Community action.
