Abstract

GUARDERAS ALBUJA, Paz. Stage machinery, characters and plots in psychological acting in gender violence in Quito. Univ. Psychol. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.spe5, pp.1569-1582. ISSN 1657-9267.  https://doi.org/10.11144/Javeriana.ypsy14-5pp-pp.tpta.

With this article I hope to contribute to the debate over psychological acts in gender violence based on narrative produced by social service professionals in Quito. The narratives were analyzed as imaginary productions from which stage machinery, characters and plots emerged. The plots of violence evidence a simplistic, dichotomous and universal view of the problem. The characters of the violence are conceived as victims who are essentialist, homogeneous, at fault, subjected to discourses, but never is there evidence of their agency. Finally, the stage machinery is composed of clinical victimology and the paradigm of salvation.

Keywords : psychological intervention; gender violence; narrative productions.
