Abstract

GOMEZ ARRIOLA, Ignacio. The Plan of management for the Agave Lanscape and the ancient industrial facilities of Tequila, the cultural heritage as a trigger of regional development, commitments and challenges. Apuntes [online]. 2009, vol.22, n.2, pp.124-141. ISSN 1657-9763.

The text explores the values as cultural heritage of the region of the volcano of Tequila, newly inscribed on the World Heritage list of UNESCO in the category of cultural landscape, as well as the challenges and commitments to the international community to their preservation on the formulation and implementation of a plan of management for the "Agave landscape and the ancient industrial facilities of Tequila". The document is divided into three parts. The first discusses the criteria and the cultural elements that allowed the identification of the Tequila region and its resulting landscape as cultural heritage. The second explains features, objectives, strategies, management processes and specific projects set out in the management plan of the agave landscape of Tequila to promote and foster the sustainable development of the region. The third part explains the problem that has been presented for institutional and concrete implementation of the management plan seeking to incorporate all the actors involved in the region, from the date of the inscription as cultural heritage at the present time. This work aims to provide an overview of the work and the challenges that has passed this initiative since its initial development in 2001 until the present.
