Abstract

MURCIA PENA, Napoleón. Young college students:: an apparently visible condition in Colombia. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.2, pp.821-852. ISSN 1692-715X.

The paper presents a summary of a research project that inquired into Universidad de Caldas students' and professors' imaginaries, understood as a reference point in the process of institutional evaluation as part of a high-quality accreditation process. The author displays the most significant findings on the dynamics of young students' imaginaries, showing the marginality of this population. This is true not only due to the scarcity of studies on this group, but also because-being seemingly included in the system-it generates other little-known expressions of marginalities and has gained ground in the college community's imaginaries. It also shows how the dynamics of social institutions slowly permeates instituted imaginaries until they become instituent, in spite of constant opposition from hegemonic forces.

Keywords : Social imaginary; college life; imaginaries of professors and students.
