Abstract

In Mexico, educational lag, school absenteeism and abandonment, child labor and their life in the streets, are frequently a consequence of a disintegrated family and weak family values. Poverty and inferior socio-economic conditions play also a key role causing these problems. To this problem the Secretaría de Educación Pública, government instance in charge of education in Mexico, works alongside with civil society organizations and other public entities in order to reintegrate street children and teenagers into learning spaces and traditional education system.
