Abstract

TARACENA RUIZ, Elvia. Working towards a framework of psycho-social phenomenon of homeless children. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.1, pp.393-409. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this article we are working with an accurate assessment of the research done during the last 20 years with youngsters and children in homeless situations. We emphasize the problematic definition of micro and macro levels of non-functionality. We will describe a multilevel framework seen from different disciplines to solve the future outlook of the micro- macro current situation. We question the position of the researcher towards the referred problem under study through the analysis of the cultural, social and affective factors. We describe the social conditions that encourage teenagers and children to live in the streets; we analyze the consequences of applying the so called "humanitarian market". We put special emphasis in our methodology-theory process trying to respect the singularity and the complexity of the phenomenon throughout a qualitative approach.

Keywords : homelessness; research intervention; youngsters becoming homeless; sociological-clinical approach; and humanitarian market.
