Abstract

PAC-SALAS, Dav id  and  VENTURA DE PEDRO, Tirso. Trajectories of young people from Zaragoza (Spain) in configurations of working-class families. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2015, vol.13, n.2, pp.981-994. ISSN 1692-715X.  https://doi.org/10.11600/1692715x.13230100914.

This article analyses the biographical trajectories of young people living in Zaragoza (Spain). In order to carry out this study, the authors used a methodology consisting of life histories reconstructed through 4 biographies of young individuals from working-class families. The main results of this paper show that young people that belong to working-class families develop heterogeneous social trajectories according to the configuration of their family (product of the interaction of actions from family members). Specifically, the concordance or discordance between institutionalized family-educational capital and interiorized capital is an explicatory element for the trajectory followed by these young people. Consequently, family configurations with higher interiorized educational capital (broader practices of written and oral culture) result in longer educational trajectories.

Keywords : Social class; family; youth; biography.
