Abstract

PEREZ BUSTOS, Tania  and  BOTERO MARULANDA, Daniela. Between outside and inside. The academic field configuration and its borders from the communicative practices of black women scientists in Colombia. Co-herencia [online]. 2013, vol.10, n.18, pp.189-220. ISSN 1794-5887.

The paper analyzes the case of black women researchers in Colombian universities from two key issues: The place of such women in the scientific field, taking into account both official measuring systems and the role they give themselves within the field. And secondly, it analyzes how specific communicative practices, which we take as constitutive of scientific work, make these women get in touch with those outside of the scientific field, the so called non-expert audiences. Our analysis is based on the idea that these communication practices build touch technologies, which can be understood as an ethos of care that calls for a sense of repair and re-politicization of expert knowledge production.

Keywords : Scientific field; public communication of science; technologies of touch; ethos of care; repair.
