Abstract

VARGAS BEJARANO, Julio César. ''-How can we avoid it- We are functionaries of mankind''. The philosophical testament of Edmund Husserl. Co-herencia [online]. 2014, vol.11, n.20, pp.141-162. ISSN 1794-5887.

In 1936, in his last work, Crisis, Husserl states that philosophy has an orientating role within culture. The purpose of this paper is to show that the characterization of the philosopher as a ''functionary of mankind'' is in a close relationship with the phenomenology of experience: science of ''doxa'', science of the life-world. In the thirties, Husserl developed a phenomenology of ''facticity'', a phenomenology of the transcendental subjectivity, which is monadic, but whose being only becomes real through intersubjective connections. The science of life-world enables to find out ''psychophysical dualism'', ''objectivism'' and ''naturalism'' at the roots of the crisis of the Western culture. In order to overcome them, it is necessary to recover the value of the ''doxa'', and to show how the constitution, the a priori, of the life-world takes place in it.

Keywords : Life-world; cultural crisis; doxa value; transcendental phenomenology; transcendental subjectivity.
