Abstract

NINO DE VILLEROS, Vanessa. Assessments of intellectual independence of the Colombian Conservative in the nineteenth century. memorias [online]. 2011, n.14, pp.95-113. ISSN 1794-8886.

This article discusses the different assessments that some conservative intellectuals developed on independence in the first half of the nineteenth century in Colombia. It examines the similarities and differences in the evaluations they made of independence and the Republic's construction process, by exploring the insights and relationships built between emancipation and colonial tradition. The latter sometimes claimed as a source of civilization and modernity.
