Abstract

Since 1937, the IPHAN is the institution responsible at federal level for the protection and preservation of the archaeological heritage in Brazil. Since its first choose and interjoints, could follow a path where protection practices and tools with great efficiency not achieve the preservation of this category of cultural property. With this article we present an overview of the performance of IPHAN, from the perspective of historical institutionalism, underlining the contemporary challenges and choose from a specific case, the musealization of Princess House Museum, in Pilar de Goiás. Our challenge is focuses the analysis in only one of the heritage representations in Brazil that still nowadays don't have clear politics of preservation.
