Abstract

COLOM PIELLA, Guillem. The Conceptual Development of the Revolution in Military Affairs. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.14, pp.19-34. ISSN 1900-6586.

This paper studies the development of the concept of Revolution in Military Affairs, employed to define a change in the way of fighting which results from the exploitation of new technologies, tactics, or types of military organization. This idea was focused on the debates about the transformation of warfare throughout the nineties. Its conceptual development begins by analyzing its immediate records -the Military Revolution (a global change which alters the existing relationship between state, society and war), and the Military-Technical Revolution (a change in the tactical level of war resulting from the use of a new weapon system)-, and finishes analyzing the consolidation of the Revolution in Military Affairs.

Keywords : Armed Forces; revolution in military affairs; military revolution; military-technical revolution; military change; transformation.
