Abstract

NORENA-CHAVEZ, Diego; GUEVARA MONCADA, Rubén  and  BUSTAMANTE ZUNIGA, Domingo Ricardo. Influence of leadership styles on the innovative behavior of military higher technological education students. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.36, pp.889-908.  Epub Oct 01, 2021. ISSN 1900-6586.  https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.817.

This research replicates the study on leadership styles' influence on the innovative behavior of Peruvian cadets by Norena-Chavez et al. (2021), using a sample of 200 students from the Instituto de Educación Superior Tecnológico Público del Ejército in Lima, Peru. It employs the partial least squares modeling (PLS-SEM), confirming an influence of transformational and transactional leadership styles on the students' innovative behavior. According to the variance explained, transformational leadership explains 47% and transactional leadership 59% of the variability of innovative behavior. This research contributes to improving the understanding of the relationship between leadership styles and innovative behavior in the military.

Keywords : innovation; leadership; military training; transactional leadership; transformational leadership.
