Abstract

ARAYA-CASTILLO, Luis; MORAGA FLORES, Hugo Alejandro; BARRIENTOS ORADINI, Nicolás Pablo  and  RIVERA ARROYO, Jennifer Karen. Social crises as an area of research in international security: a scientometric analysis. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.36, pp.979-1007.  Epub Oct 01, 2021. ISSN 1900-6586.  https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.792.

This article presents a scientometric study of the scientific production involving searches for the concepts of "social crises" and "international security" between 1978 and 2019. A total of 222 articles published in the Web of Science database were analyzed to establish the most cited articles, the most influential authors, the journals with the highest recognition in the subject, and the institutions and countries with the highest productivity and impact. The bibliometric map presented suggests nine clusters referring to security, politics, and crises. Based on the results, it is concluded that both topics are an incipient area of scientific production, with little collaboration between authors and institutions, showing that there are potential lines of development for this increasingly strategic topic.

Keywords : bibliometrics; interdisciplinary research; international security; social crises; social policy; Web of Science.
