Abstract
CARO, Isaac. Religion, Conflict and Violence in Israel: Zionist and Antizionist Religious Expressions. Some Views from the Southern Cone. rev.relac.int.estrateg.segur. [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.2, pp.189-214. ISSN 1909-3063. https://doi.org/10.18359/ries.3170.
This article analyzes the relationship between Zionism, religion and the State of Israel from two great models: the Zionist religious field, characterized by the acceptance of Zionism and the State of Israel, and ultra-Orthodox Anti-Zionism, based on the rejection of Zionism and the State of Israel. Israeli society is an emblematic example of religion playing a central role and, at the same time, producing strong clashes between various sectors: Zionists against anti-Zionists, Ashkenazi versus Sephardi, and laity against religion. We will also consider Argentina, where the most important Jewish community in Latin America is located, because of the confrontation between liberal and orthodox sectors that has exacerbated in the last ten years.
