Abstract

BABATIVA-CHIRIVI, Sandra Milena. Crocheting Meanings and Feelings. Experiences of the Collective Tejedores de Resistencia in Bogota. CS [online]. 2022, n.38, pp.49-82.  Epub Nov 09, 2022. ISSN 2011-0324.  https://doi.org/10.18046/recs.i38.5125.

The collective Tejedores de Resistencia was born on May 8, 2021, in the heat of the National Strike in Colombia. Its purpose is to create a large textile piece made of 6402 granny squares or crocheted squares in yellow, blue, red, and white colors. Through my own experience as a member of the collective and after several virtual meetings held between June and September 2021, this text aims to retrieve some meanings and feelings that have been developing during the process. Particularly, we show the importance of doing as a mechanism that gives meaning to the work, as well as the emotions and sensations overflow. The practices themselves, the agency of the objects and the gatherings in public and virtual spaces, are the center of the analysis exposed below, as an analytical exercise from an ethnographic and introspective point of view.

Keywords : Knitting; Doing; Meanings; Emotions; Gathering.
