Abstract

MANCHADO, Mauricio  and  ROUTIER, Maria Eva. Prison Education Will Not Be Planned. On the Dimensions of Accessibility and Development of Educational Practices in Two Contemporary Prisons in the Province of Santa Fe (Argentina). CS [online]. 2023, n.39, pp.137-163.  Epub Sep 05, 2023. ISSN 2011-0324.  https://doi.org/10.18046/recs.i39.5376.

Penitentiary Units No. 16 and No. 5 are the last prisons opened on Santa Fe's soil. The first -with an architectural model replicating the material and security conditions of a supermax prison- is intended for the imprisonment of 370 men; the second -built to transfer women detained in a mansion that functioned as a penitentiary until 2018- houses 350 women and 7 children. Based on a Survey of the socio-educational trajectories between 2019 and 2021 in both Units, we intend to analyze the characteristics of the educational proposals developed there, their accessibility conditions, and how the gender variable highlights differences between demand and access cash in a men's and women's prison. To do this, we will analyze a corpus produced from a survey of 30% of the population detained in both Units.

Keywords : Prison Education; Potential Educational Demand; Accessibility.
