Abstract

Objective.

The main objective is to introduce a literature review of the influence of families and schools on children’s food preferences and to understand those factors associated with children´s food preferences.

Methodology.

An analysis of information of the existing research around this topic was carried out in order to investigate condition of of malnutrition prevention in kids and in the promotion of healthy eating habits.

Results.

The family is a determining factor in the formation of children’s dietary preferences, but also in the appearance of eating disorders. The educational environment is fundamental in the promotion of healthy eating habits.

Conclusions.

In the consolidation of eating habits during childhood, in addition to considering the influence of the family and the school, issues such as lack of appetite, alimentary neophobia and the development of the personality should be taken into account.
