Abstract

ALZATE TORRES, Manuel Alejandro  and  GARCIA GARCIA, Luz Elena. State of the Art Review about the Understandings of Human and Social Development. Aleth. rev. desarro. hum. educ. soc. contemp. [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.1, pp.62-79. ISSN 2145-0366.

This article presents understandings of social and human development as results of the research for the MA Environment and sustainable development program in the Manizales University. The research method consisted of a critical hermeneutics process of four stages: theoretical stage, fieldwork stage, interpretative stage, and synthesis stage. Therefore, it was necessary to develop instruments to obtain information from students, teachers and graduates, besides the thesis and seminar modules review. The results allow categorizing the theoretical trends about human and social development. Explicitly and implicitly, the integral theoretical approach about the development stands out whether it is general or it is used with a human and social meaning from the participants. Multi and cross-disciplinarily (as part of a holistic process) and the development quality of structure are meanings that take place when understanding the integral perspectives within the program and its participants.

Keywords : Human development; social development; integrated development; social capital.
