This article offers an approach to a National Asset of Cultural Interest: The Panopticon of Ibague (Colombia). The analysis is based on the origin, development, present and projection of the panopticon, which is complemented by the theoretical approaches of some authors such as Bentham, Foucault, Cortés, González and Segura, to name a few, who work on issues related to culture, heritage and construction techniques. The approach is based on citizen perceptions obtained from surveys, and identifies the knowledge that the population has about the Panopticon of Ibague, its history, current and previous uses, as well as the problems that have prevented its completion.
