Abstract

TORRES-MADRONERO, María C.  and  TORRES-MADRONERO, Esperanza Milena. PazRed. A Virtual Education Proposal for Building Social Science Competencies for University Students. Trilogía. Cienc. Tecnol. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.23, pp.37-59.  Epub July 15, 2020. ISSN 2145-7778.  https://doi.org/10.22430/21457778.1715.

The application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in social science training processes requires the development of new methodologies involving sensoriality, flexibility and new training formats. In this sense, PazRed proposes a pedagogical model based on critical peace education with the support of ICTs and virtuality. The research process consisted of the reconstruction of armed conflict memory in two areas of western Antioquia, Dabeiba and Frontino. The information was obtained from narratives of memory, such as in-depth interviews, social mapping, photographs, life stories and journeys through the territory, which were subsequently outlined as pedagogical inputs for a proposal of virtual peace education for university students in Medellín. This work concludes that there is a need to develop new tools for teaching and learning in the social sciences incorporating qualitative and historical components. Similarly, to recognize the social and cultural dimension of ICTs in pedagogical models, as an invitation to design new models aimed at developing citizenship skills.
