Abstract

MARTINS, Fernando José. Teacher training and countryside education in Brazil: from movement to school. Prax. Saber [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.33, pp.136-151.  Epub Mar 05, 2023. ISSN 2216-0159.  https://doi.org/10.19053/22160159.v13.n33.2022.13211.

Based on the collective construction of countryside education in Brazil (CE), social movements and country people meet the educational system in the formation of a praxis that intends to respond to their needs. Teacher training is part of this process. This text aims to evidence the inseparability between initial education and continuing training, and their contribution to the CE modality in Brazil. Methodologically, a bibliographic review and research in primary documentary sources linked to the process of participant observation and research were carried out. As results, we found: the pedagogical principles that compose the CE movement; the characteristics of the initial training courses specifically focused on teacher training for country schools; and continuous training processes/programs with the same specificity along with the school units of the country. These results on the balance of activities show that, once built with the support of social movements, CE becomes a movement and that the articulation of objective reality with school practices is essential to continuous training.
