Abstract

CASTANEDA-MENESES, Patricia  and  CAZORLA-BECERRA, Ketty. Conceptions of Health, Public/Private Health System, Social Work and COVID-19 in Chile. Trab. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.1, pp.145-167.  Epub Feb 16, 2023. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v24n1.94179.

The article exposes the results of a documentary research that analyzes the main measures adopted in Chile against COVID-19, from the conceptions of health -as human right, social asset, public policies, and citizen demands-, in the context of a highly segmented public/private health system. It is proposed that the greater structural tension of the Chilean health system is present among the conceptions of health as human right and social asset. The results confirm the proposal, presenting the convergences and divergences brought by the conceptions of health, together with the professional opportunities for Social Work in the framework of the pandemic.

Keywords : Chilean Health Policy; conceptions of health; COVID-19; pandemic; Public/ Private Health System; Social Work.
