Abstract

The purpose of this article was to establish the characteristics, participants and components of a comprehensive system of evaluation and monitoring of the teaching practice of a Higher Education Institution, seeking to comply with the guidelines established by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia, research development It had a mixed approach, the technique of systematic review of scientific literature was used, the results of the systemic review were presented to a focus group composed of teachers and academic directors of the Institution of Higher Education, who from their knowledge and experience validated the results and made significant contributions to research development. Within the conclusions it was established that it is necessary to carry out a revision to the current model of teacher evaluation of HEI, given that it is not fulfilling its purpose, teacher evaluation is being seen as an activity isolated from the other academic processes, It must be taken by the academic community in a free and spontaneous way, seeking that their participation is more by conviction, since this allows the teacher's training and the improvement of their educational practice.
