Abstract

SOLANO, Verònica Oikión. In search of the socialist revolution in Mexico. Ana María Rico Galán in the people's revolutionary movement. Hist. Caribe [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.43, pp.133-162.  Epub Dec 30, 2023. ISSN 0122-8803.  https://doi.org/10.15648/hc.43.2023.3721.

This article discusses the period in which Ana María Rico Galán made key decisions in her personal life that led to her involvement in the People's Revolutionary Movement (Movimiento Revolucionario del Pueblo, MRP, 1964-1966), an organization whose objective was to seize power by armed force. Her political praxis and revolutionary ideas are virtually unknown. I developed my approach to her biographical profile during the period of her most intense political activity in configuring the MRP through a combination of several theoretical-methodological instruments, from the left-wing political history to the history of women and gender relations. My goal is that by increasing Ana María's visibility within the concert of studies of socialist armed movements in Mexico, I can make a concrete contribution to the analysis of transgressing women who pursued the paradigm of the revolution, through a gender-oriented focus.

Keywords : Ana María Rico Galán; People's Revolutionary Movement; armed socialist revolution.
