Abstract

ERAZO SANTANDER, Óscar Armando. Program of school habits to improve the low aca- demic performance in bachelor students of a public school of Popayan-Colombia. Encuentros [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.117-133. ISSN 1692-5858.  https://doi.org/10.15665/encuent.v16i02.923.

One in ten students has learning problems or low academic performance (without neuropsychological deficiency), product of deficiencies in knowledge structures and low cognitive abilities and as a consequence of the absence or low frequency of school habits. With this hypothesis a quasi-experimental study is carried out that develops a program of school habits through the technique of economy of cards, in a sample of 40 students, divided into, group one (50%) with low performance, group two (5 %) school failure and group three (45%) control. The results after 48 sessions were, the group one started with 35% of students in low performance at the end of 15% had moved to regular performance with averages of 3.5-3.9 and 35% at high performance, group two had a similar situation. Group three started with 30% of students in low performance and at the end increased to 37.5%. It is concluded that the low performance is the result of the absence of school habits and its low frequency does not allow the organization of knowledge and the development of cognitive and meta cognitive skills.
