Abstract

HERNANDEZ-MACHUCA, Diana Carolina. Teacher Training and Conceptions of Children’s and Youth Literature in Ibero-America. Enunciación [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.2, pp.304-317.  Epub Apr 21, 2024. ISSN 0122-6339.  https://doi.org/10.14483/22486798.20861.

One of the main roles of mother-tongue teachers is to be literary mediators and trainers of readers in primary and secondary education. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize the research landscape of the last decade on the relationship between teachers and children’s and youth literature (CYL). This article presents a review of the Dialnet, Redalyc, and Scielo databases of research carried out in this field in Ibero-America. Three emerging categories are obtained which refer to teacher training in didactics and CYL, teachers’ conceptions about CYL, and the reading trajectories and habits of future teachers. In conclusion, gaps are pointed out both in training and in research regarding the relationship of teacher trainers and trainees with CYL.

Keywords : teacher training; conceptions; reading trajectories; reading habits; children’s and youth literature.
