Abstract
GARCIA PETER, Sabina. The Internationalization of Liberal Multiculturalism as the Structure of Possibility for Its Circulation in Latin America. rev.estud.soc. [online]. 2016, n.57, pp.12-24. ISSN 0123-885X. https://doi.org/10.7440/res57.2016.01.
The objective of the article is to analyze the processes that operate at a global level as the structure of possibility for the circulation of the liberal debate on multiculturalism in Latin America. It is based on the proposition of a theoretical-conceptual framework for the study of the circulation of knowledge that considers both the objective structures and the subjective strategies that give rise to it. Secondly, it presents three dimensions of the process of internationalization of liberal multiculturalism, identified through an analysis of the existing literature on the subject. Thirdly, the article concludes by pointing out the importance of studying the specifics of this process in different countries in Latin America based on the interaction between structures of possibility and individual, group and/or institutional strategies on the local and international level, proposing that it is thus possible to explain the differences encountered in local appropriations of the debate.
