Abstract
APARICIO, Juan Ricardo. Maps, Cartographies and Conjunctions of the Relation between Culture and Power: Itineraries and Challenges of Cultural Studies. rev.estud.soc. [online]. 2018, n.64, pp.106-117. ISSN 0123-885X. https://doi.org/10.7440/res64.2018.08.
This article consists of four conversations which form a sort of map of the questions and problems which have marked the evolution of Cultural Studies, starting with an approach, close to structuralism, which holds that language is the key factor in ordering societies. It then goes on to cultural Marxism, which offers a complex analysis of societies and the notion of determination. It continues with Foucault’s interrogation of the present and how we have been constituted as both subjects and objects of knowledge, and disciplining and regulation. Finally, it addresses affect theory, to highlight the need to integrate everyday life into a complex analysis of power.
