Abstract

RODRIGUES ARAUJO, Emília. Towards an Applied Perspective of Time in Politics. rev.estud.soc. [online]. 2018, n.65, pp.63-72. ISSN 0123-885X.  https://doi.org/10.7440/res65.2018.06.

The main purpose of this study is to examine some of the ways of manifesting and revealing time in politics. We discuss, inter alia, the idea that in contemporary societies, cultural and social times are often forgotten by politics, which has negative effects on the lives of populations. We seek to show what the main dilemmas of time which politics confronts are and by what means the idea of time can be modified in order to respond to the needs of citizens. In that regard, we propose a scheme for analyzing a politic of time, presenting some of the main axes for its realization.

Keywords : time; politics; history; rhythm; aspiration.
