Abstract

Furcraea foetida (L.) Haw., a native species from tropical America, is recorded for the first time in Ecuador and Perú. Its description, photographs, vernacular names, uses, and some morphological and ecological analyses are presented, as well as the presence of lateral inflorescences in this species for the first time. Furcraea nana Hochstätter & Van der Meer is reduced to synonymy of F. foetida.
