Resumen

SALINAS-GUAYACUNDO, William Alberto. Mobbing in an educational environment: case review at a university in the department of Boyacá. Rev. esc.adm.neg [online]. 2020, n.88, pp.189-205.  Epub 08-Jun-2021. ISSN 0120-8160.  https://doi.org/10.21158/01208160.n88.2020.2527.

Since several studies have found that educational environments are more likely to present cases of mobbing, the aim of this article is to study this problem and its effects in a specific academic environment. To this end, we conducted a case review in a private, legally constituted, intermediate level higher education institution in Colombia, using an adjusted version of Leymann's Inventory of Psychological Terrorization, LIPT-60, to explore the perception of mobbing in the university under study. The sample that was used covered 85% of the teachers that are assigned to a specific faculty. The results showed a strong positive linear correlation of the variable excessive control of teaching activity, with the variables limiting communication and discrediting professional capacity, which leads to motivation and performance problems. Therefore, in conclusion, although the presence of mobbing in the faculty under study was ruled out, recurrent behaviors and patterns associated with this phenomenon were identified which, if fully addressed, will allow a substantial improvement in the physical and mental health of teachers, while the university will improve its organizational climate and its quality indicators.
