Introduction: The ergonomics can contribute to job design, environments and systems to make them compatible with needs, abilities and limitations of people. In response to the current needs and the challenge that are facing designers and ergonomists to facilitate and improve the quality of life of people. Objectives: Elaborate a diagnosis of the accessibility of 34 public and private spaces of the city of Temuco. Materials and Methods: We designed for this purpose an instrument type record card that allowed recording observations made in the field, having incorporated accessibility criteria under the laws and regulations actives, and those recommended by international experts who go beyond the Chilean norm. Results: Objective data were obtained that allowed an analysis of accessibility of quantitative and qualitative nature representative of the city that illustrate the current reality of the regional capital of the Ninth region. The tool enables to attach photographs and recommendations for improving accessibility, systematizing the information in an orderly and graphical way. Conclusions: From a holistic approach are given guidelines to ensure the fit and adequacy of the enclosures observed in the dimensions of environment, entry, customer service area, elevators and public toilets the needs and abilities of people with disabilities.
