Resumen

GARCIA UBAQUE, Juan Carlos; BELTRAN LIZARAZO, Alejandra Husley  y  DAZA LOPEZ, Magda Liliana. Self-evaluation of the work conditions of nursing high complexity situations. av.enferm. [online]. 2011, vol.29, n.2, pp.331-341. ISSN 0121-4500.

Goal: build a work condition self-evaluation instrument that could be used by the nursing staff in high complexity services. Method: descriptive research, which included concepts such as work conditions inherent to or present in the work process that have an influence on the worker's quality of life, well-being, and performance in different contexts. It also included the work conditions evaluation processes, which are frequently used or mentioned in the specific literature, and the elements that distinguish the nursing work, as well as the risk factors that these workers face in the hospital sector. Based on these elements, an instrument was created, which comprises three categories: conditions in the workplace, conditions outside the workplace and individual conditions. Results: The instrument possesses a total of fifty-three questions: thirteen related to the individual conditions, twenty-nine to the conditions in the workplace and eleven to the conditions outside the workplace. The content was evaluated and validated by experts, leaving the quantitative measurements for a future phase. Conclusion: the application of self-evaluation instruments is recognized as a way to empower the workers in order to improve their working conditions. As such, it is necessary to develop this empowerment so the nursing staff can recognize it and promote collective actions directed to their proper managing.
