Resumen

Objective:

To describe the perception of the adult critical patient on the behavior of humanized nursing care in the intensive care unit (ICU) of adults at a level III hospital in Bogotá, Colombia.

Methodology:

Descriptive study with a quantitative approach; it was used the instrument "Perception of behaviors of humanized nursing care - 3rd version", which has facial, content and construct validity. It was applied to 55 patients hospitalized in ICU, between June and October 2016.

Results:

The overall perception of the group obtained was 83,39 on the standardized scale. In the category Prioritize the subject of care, "always" received a score of 60 %, "almost always" 14 %, "sometimes" 22 %, and "never" 4 %. In the category Openness to communication to provide health education to the person there were favorable results: "always" 42 %, "almost always" 24 %, "sometimes" 25 % and "never" 9 %. Finally, in the category Qualities of nursing it was found that 27 % "always" perceived these behaviors, "almost always" 35 %, "sometimes" 24 % and "never" 14 %.

Conclusion:

According to the findings, humanized care behaviors are perceived globally as good, and in the category Prioritize the subject of care it was obtained the highest satisfaction score on the part of the patient.
